The Academy provided training for faculty from across the university to develop and deliver online courses built on best-practices. By the end of five years, 90% of faculty had been through the program and over 100 new online courses were in place.
Consultant to Georgia State University Excellence helping to serve the DFACS program in Georgia; bringing technology integration initiatives to employees and families.
International/National speaker including Keynote speaker/presenter for the Ohio State Child Welfare Training Program State Conference in Columbus Ohio (March, 2015).
Software architect for Year Up Greater Atlanta’s inventory management system and intern placement tool.
Helped establish the Redwood Rehabilitation Center Computer Center (KY) offering workforce training/development opportunities to the center’s residents.
Served on the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Heart Institute advisory board.
Mentored in both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America.

Developed in 1995, TheDigitalClassroom provides online instruction, resources, screencasts, and topical information for educators and trainers.
History of TDC
The Digital Classroom began as a Learning Management System (LMS) for Educational Technology courses and professional development offered by Dr. Steven Smith in 1995. The primary function of TDC was to support learning and to provide resources that can be used to augment the educational experience.
Course delivery was redesigned in 2006 to take full advantage of the open source LMS program Moodle®. Moodle was selected for its extensive features and flexibility of design as well as its price; it's a free alternative to commercial software such as WebCT and Blackboard. Moodle is used by a growing number of universities, schools, as well as independent teachers for distance education or to supplement face-to-face teaching.
Today, TDC functions primarily as a a training tool and web presence for Dr. Steven Smith. Training is often personalized for an organization (private access). Courses are offered free through the classroom feature which utilizes CourseSites (by Blackboard), an online LMS.
